SYRACH Parts Ways With Bassist, Announces Replacement

July 29, 2009

Bassist Ørjan "Hjarandr" Setvik will play his final show with Norwegian doom metallers SYRACH at the release party for the band's sophomore album, "A Dark Burial", on Friday, July 31 in Bergen, Holland. According to the group, "Hjarandr decided to leave the band now because he wanted to focus on his interest in food and will now try to get a degree as a chef.

"Hjarandr spent about seven years with us and has been a great tribute to our ranks. We have had some great times together and been through a lot. We are sorry to let this great man of doom go, but his mind is set and we have to respect this. We'll be sure to get some beers together in the future anyway.

"We are at the same time proud to announce his replacement in Øystein K. Øystein played with us on our European tour in October and is a very good bass player and friend of us, so we are very glad to have him on board our ship."

"A Dark Burial" was released last week via Napalm Records. The CD was produced by Bjørnar Nilsen and features artwork (see below) by Martin Kvamme, who has previously worked with FANTOMAS, Mike Patton, DARKTHRONE and lots of other artists.

"A Dark Burial" track listing:

01. Curse The Souls
02. The River's Rage
03. A Dark Burial
04. A Mourners Kiss
05. In Darkness I Sigh
06. Ouroboros

SYRACH was formed in 1993 in Kalandseidet, near Bergen, Norway — a region known to have spawned bands like IMMORTAL and BURZUM, to name a few.
